Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, invited women heads of diplomatic missions, leaders and journalists from diverse fields, backgrounds and stages of their careers for a roundtable discussion at Rideau Hall, in collaboration with the Women Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Ottawa on the occasion of International Women's Day. The discussion reflected a diversity of perspectives on the importance of women in leadership positions, the challenges they face, and what a society can do to create safe and inclusive digital spaces for respectful public discourse, free of toxicity and harassment. The event encouraged the exchange of experiences and best practices to nurture a sense of shared purpose among women leaders to create a brighter future for women and girls around the world.
